The hamlet
A few steps from the house rises the Tower of Cristo, built in the second half of the 15th century by the Duchy of Milan as part of a signalling and defence system protecting the Ossola valley from raids from the Swiss Valais.
Built of serizzo, the local stone, it has a square plan of almost 7 metres per side and walls 90 cm thick. Around it, stone houses with slate roofs, the fountain and the old wash-house tell of centuries of mountain life.
